This video will show you how to use the check disk tool (using the command line interface). This talks through as if you're on Windows Vista, but the procedure is exactly the same on Windows XP. The three step check is: chkdsk C: /f The five step check is: chkdsk C: /r The checkdisk is basically a program that searches your hard drive for Windows errors, and tries to rectify them if found. Be cautious when using this tool. And remember, if you're told "Windows was unable to start", select "Last known good configuration".
